LONDON (AFP): English sprinter Dwain Chambers' former agent said he was not aware that the athlete bought performance enhancing drugs. John Regis, an Olympian himself, handled Chambers' financial affairs at the time he tested positive for the banned THG steroid in 2003.

Chambers, seen here in the picture, wrote in his new book that Regis knew he was taking the steriod. But Regis, who is threatening to sue Chambers, insists he had no influence over how his client spent his money, nor did he know on what he was spending it.
Victor Conte, founder of the BALCO sports nutrition center in California, which is believed to have developed THG, claimed he received a $10,000 wire payment for supplying Chambers' drugs from the athlete's management company, in which Regis plays a leading role.
Regis told BBC Radio Five Live: "Dwain Chambers would inform us where to send the money. It is his money."
"We hold the money, we are not allowed to use or spend that money. The only way it can be spent is at the behest of the individual client.
"Hindsight is 20/20. In 2002, 2003 - and I can't remember when or if that money was sent - nobody had even heard of Victor Conte.
"Everybody assumed Dwain went over to the States with the training group, he'd found a new nutritionist, he wanted to use him and he asked for this money to be sent."
